Chelsea are keen to sign Real Madrid defender, Alvaro Carreras for their manager, Xabi Alonso.
Alonso is searching the summer transfer window market for a new left-back after Marc Cucurella’s move to Real Madrid.
The former Bayer Leverkusen coach was keen for Cucurella to stay at the Premier League west London club, but the Spain international decided to leave for Real Madrid.
According to Spanish outlet Sport, the Blues have made a £21million bid for Carreras to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
The report added that Alonso has instructed the Chelsea board to sign Carreras as he believes he is the ideal replacement for Cucurella at the Blues.
It is yet to be seen if Real Madrid will allow the 23-year-old to leave Santiago Bernabeu.
Carreras’ future at Madrid is still not certain after Cucurella’s arrival.
