President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Isiaka Tunji Adelabu as the substantive Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, Oyo State.

The development was announced by the Registrar of the Polytechnic, Mr Akinlolu Akinpade, through a statement made public by the Acting Director of the Centre for Information, Communication and Public Relations, Mr Sunday Adepoju.
Before his appointment, Adelabu was a Chartered Accountant and Chief Lecturer in the Department of Accountancy at the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State.
He previously served in several administrative positions at the institution, including Head of Department, Dean of School and Deputy Rector (Administration), giving him experience in academic administration and institutional management. (Nigeria Education News)
The Registrar said Adelabu’s academic contributions, professional experience and administrative competence would add value to the continued growth and development of the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede.
With the appointment, Adelabu is expected to provide substantive academic and administrative leadership as the institution continues to strengthen its programmes, infrastructure and institutional structures.
The Polytechnic management, staff and students have also been urged to give the new Rector the necessary support and cooperation as he assumes office.
The appointment formally ends the institution’s period of acting leadership and ushers in a new phase under a substantive Rector. Abia Varsity Suspends Professor Nwaeze Over ‘Uncomplimentary’ Social Media Posts Against Otti
Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU), has suspended Professor Nnamdi Nwaeze of the Department of Economics over social media posts allegedly deemed “inimical to the interests of the University” and “uncomplimentary” to the institution’s Visitor, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State.
The suspension, which takes immediate effect, was announced by the university in a statement issued on Thursday, August 13, 2026, by its Media and Public Relations Unit.
The statement was signed by the Deputy Registrar and Public Relations Officer of the university, Chijioke Nwogu.
According to the university, the decision followed concerns arising from “various social media posts attributed to Professor Nwaeze.”
“Management has suspended Professor Nnamdi Nwaeze of the Department of Economics, Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences,” the statement said.
It explained that the suspension was necessitated by concerns over social media publications attributed to the professor, which the management considered “inimical to the interests of the University and uncomplimentary to the Visitor of the University.”
However, the university did not disclose the specific social media posts allegedly made by Nwaeze or provide details of the comments considered offensive or contrary to the interests of the institution.
The institution also did not state whether the professor had been given an opportunity to respond to the allegations before the suspension was announced.
In a move to investigate the matter, the university said it had constituted an Investigative Panel to examine the circumstances surrounding the alleged social media posts.
According to the statement, the suspension will remain in force pending the outcome of the panel’s investigation.
The development has attracted attention because Governor Alex Otti, whom the university said the alleged posts were “uncomplimentary” to, is the Visitor of Abia State University.
The university, however, did not allege that Professor Nwaeze committed any criminal offence, nor did it announce any final disciplinary finding against him.
The suspension therefore remains an administrative measure pending the outcome of the investigation by the panel constituted by the university management.
The institution is expected to communicate its decision on the matter after the investigative process is concluded.
