‘The Rookie’ Season 9 Officially Sets 2027 Return Date

Nathan Fillion has been booked and busy in the last few years, especially thanks to his friendship with James Gunn, the new co-CEO of DC Studios. Fillion and Gunn worked together years ago on the first Guardians of the Galaxymovie, and while he sat out the first sequel, he did return in 2023 to star in the final Guardians of the Galaxy film before Gunn completed his migration to DC. Gunn already cast Fillion in the key DC role of Guy Gardner, though, and his Green Lantern has appeared in Superman, Peacemaker Season 2, and Lanterns. While balancing his newfound DCU stardom, Fillion is also shouldering the load of starring in new seasons of The Rookie every year — he’s played John Nolan for almost 10 years now, and he isn’t ready to slow down anytime soon.
