The Steelers’ 2026 season is finally here, with Pittsburgh opening the year at home against the Atlanta Falcons at 1 p.m. EST Sunday.
For this week only, both teams enter the matchup at 0-0; it’s a clean slate and a time to set the tone for the 2026 season.

For Pittsburgh, quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be taking the field for the first time this season after sitting out of the Steelers’ preseason games. And for Atlanta, Tua Tagovailoa will see the start at quarterback over Michael Penix Jr., who is still recovering from a season-ending injury in 2025 despite being recently cleared to practice.
The Steelers faced the Falcons for a season opener as recently as 2024 — an 18-10 victory for the black and gold thanks to six Chris Boswell field goals. Pittsburgh will be hoping for a similar result Sunday, but probably with an actual touchdown or two scored this time around.
