Nigerian forward, George Ilenikhena has spoken about his goals that helped Al-Ittihad to a 2-1 win over Al-Nassr at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah on Saturday.
The former Monaco player reacted swiftly to head in the opening goal after goalkeeper Nawaf Al Aqidi had deflected a close-range shot.
Ilenikhena extended Al-Ittihad’s lead shortly thereafter, delivering a precise shot into the bottom corner following a well-timed assist from teammate Houssem Aouar.
His remarkable performance earned him the Man of the Match title, significantly contributing to Al-Ittihad’s claiming of all three points.
In his post-match interview, the forward expressed gratitude to the Al-Ittihad supporters for their steadfast encouragement and pledged to continue delivering match-winning performances for the club.
“I am incredibly pleased to have scored two goals today and to have received the Man of the Match award in this fantastic match,” Ilenikhena stated via News50.sa.
“I want to extend my thanks to the devoted Al-Ittihad fans for their unwavering and tremendous support throughout the game, and I will strive with all my strength to earn the Man of the Match award in every match we play to assist the team in achieving victories.”
Ilenikhena, who joined the Saudi club during the winter transfer window as a successor to Karim Benzema, has made a remarkable start to the 2026/2027 season.
The 20-year-old forward has displayed excellent form, scoring five goals in six appearances across all competitions since the season commenced.
The striker is keen to sustain his impressive performance and continue contributing goals and strong displays for Al-Ittihad as the season unfolds.
