Seven students of State High School, Ibereko, Badagry, have been arraigned before a competent court for allegedly vandalising and stealing government property within their school premises.
The students were arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Badagry Divisional Headquarters of the Lagos State Command, over allegations that they vandalised electrical cables and aluminium materials belonging to the school before selling the items to a scrap dealer.
During the court proceedings, five of the defendants, whose identities were withheld because they are minors, were granted bail on the condition that their biological parents stand as sureties and provide valid means of identification alongside recent passport photographs.
The court further ruled that any of the juveniles whose parents fail to meet the bail conditions would be remanded at the Juvenile Correctional Centre in Oregun until the requirements are fulfilled.
The two adult defendants, identified as Saniola Nofiu, 19, and Kasiru Usman, 19, were denied bail and remanded at the Badagry Custodial Centre pending the determination of the case.
The matter was adjourned until August 6 and 7, 2026, for continuation of hearing.
The NSCDC Lagos State Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, warning that anyone found vandalising government property would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The command also appealed to parents, guardians, school authorities and community leaders to strengthen the supervision of young people and collaborate with security agencies to safeguard public infrastructure across communities.
