Richard’s achievement was among the highlights of the convocation ceremony, which celebrated the academic accomplishments of students across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

University Records Growth in Accreditation and Training

The vice-chancellor said ABUAD had recorded progress in academic programme accreditation and professional training, particularly in its medical and science-related disciplines.

She disclosed that the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria had increased the university’s admission quota for Medicine and Surgery from 200 to 250 students and approved 25 admission slots for Dentistry.

The university also secured full accreditation for Sociology, Computer Science and Geology, as well as Human Nutrition and Dietetics, which recorded a score of 93.6 per cent.

Olarinde added that the university received favourable accreditation outcomes for its postgraduate programmes in Accounting and Business Administration.

She said the outcomes reflected efforts to maintain academic standards and expand the institution’s capacity to train students in specialised fields.

ABUAD has also continued to develop international academic partnerships to expose students to new technologies and learning environments.

Through a memorandum of understanding with Zhejiang Polytechnic University in China, 37 Engineering students and two professors participated in three weeks of intensive training in Intelligent Manufacturing and Control Technology.

Another group of students undertook a 28-day study programme in Changchun, China, while a partnership with King’s College London secured four places for ABUAD students at its 2026 Summer School.

The university also established a Digital Twin Laboratory in collaboration with Shenzhen University and arranged six months of industrial training for 20 Aeronautical Engineering students with United Nigeria Airline.

Research Investment and International Collaboration

Olarinde said the university had strengthened its research infrastructure through investments in computing facilities and academic integrity systems.

She disclosed that ABUAD deployed a High-Performance Computing facility in November 2025 to support genomic and artificial intelligence research.

The institution also implemented Turnitin for all academic staff as part of its efforts to support academic integrity and improve the quality of scholarly work.

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji paid tribute to the university’s founder, Aare Afe Babalola, for his commitment to human development and contributions to society.

He commended ABUAD for sustaining high academic standards and for its performance in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings.

The governor also acknowledged Babalola’s support for the Ekiti State Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport, including funding for control tower equipment and a parking facility designed to accommodate 100 cars.

Oyebanji urged the graduating students to remain creative, adaptable and pragmatic as they prepared to enter the workforce and pursue further academic or professional opportunities.

He emphasised the importance of continuous learning and skills acquisition in an era increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence and technological change.
