UFC Fight Night Sydney has it’s co-main event: a five round light heavyweight battle between Australian Robert Whittaker and Bogdan Guskov.
The fight was announced by the promotion on Sunday for the February 6th event which will take place in the Afterpay Arena. The previously announced main event for the card features rising Aussie star Quillan Salkilld versus French special forces fighter Benoit Saint Denis.
Whittaker took to Instagram to celebrate his home country return.
“Super excited to announce my fight in Sydney this February,” the 35-year-old former champion said. “I know I told a lot of people I’m doing everything I can to get there. Well, guess what? It’s happening. I haven’t fought in Sydney for like ten plus years. My middleweight debut was a long time ago at this point.”
“I cannot wait. I’ll have all my friends, family, and fans there. I’m going to put on a show for you guys. It’s going to be great.”
This will be Robert Whittaker’s second light heavyweight fight since moving up from middleweight. While “Bobby Knuckles” was visibly smaller than Nikita Krylov when they fought at UFC 329 in July, but that didn’t stop him from earning a third round knockout win.
His opponent Bogdan Guskov also holds a win over Krylov from 2025, his last win on a four fight streak. Since then he scored a draw against Jan Blachowicz and was then lost a last-minute replacement fight against Magomed Ankalaev in the summer.
