ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Tampa Bay Rays pinch-hitter Ben Williamson hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the 12th inning to give his team a 4-3 victory in Game 4 of the World Series and avoid a sweep at the hands of the Milwaukee Brewers.
Milwaukee had gone ahead on rookie Cooper Pratt’s home run in the top of the 12th but the Rays rallied down to their last three outs, getting a tying single from Jonny DeLuca two batters before Williamson’s chopper over the first base bag with the infield drawn in.
Game 5 will be Wednesday at Tropicana Field. If the Rays win, the World Series would go back to Milwaukee for Games 6 and 7.
