Los Angeles Rams star wide receiver Davante Adams is projected to have a down year in 2026.
According to season" target="_blank">Alex Kay of Bleacher Report, Adams is one of five players expected to fade this season.
“Given his diminishing athleticism and role in L.A.’s system—along with a pedestrian 9.3 PPG average in the seven games he failed to score last year—Adams could be closer to the WR50 than WR25 this year.”
The 33-year-old is coming off a productive season in his first with the Rams. He led the league in receiving touchdowns with 14; however, it was clear that he was not the same player we witnessed with the Green Bay Packers, and understandably so.
Davante Adams remains highly effective despite reduced volume
Adams’ numbers, on paper, were solid in an explosive Rams offense. In 14 games, he recorded 60 receptions on 114 targets for 789 receiving yards and averaged 13.2 yards per reception.
His advanced numbers showed that while his overall volume dropped significantly, he remained an elite and hyper-efficient weapon last season. Adams’ overall numbers dropped due to him not being the primary target that he was in the past.
Still, he was effective as 85 percent of his 60 total receptions either resulted in a first down or a touchdown, leading all wide receivers. On top of that, Pro Football Focus awarded him an 85.2 overall grade, ranking 11th among all qualified wide receivers.
Adams’ advanced numbers proved that he is still highly effective in his role, and if health is on his side in 2026, that shouldn’t change.
That was not the case towards the end of the 2025 season, as the three-time All-Pro suffered a left hamstring and knee injury. Nonetheless, if Adams can stay on the field, it’s fair to expect similar numbers he posted last season.
