Florentino Perez broke the internet with his announcement last night, which came as his first big electoral promise ahead of the upcoming polling.

The Real Madrid president made a loud and clear declaration that he will sign a superstar for the club this summer with a bid of at least €150 million, making it clear that he is targeting one of the biggest names in the sport.

Soon after his announcement, speculation began around who his mystery signing could be, especially with very few players on the planet bearing that price tag.

PSG stars ruled out

Given how PSG have won two back-to-back UEFA Champions League titles, are one of the best teams on the planet and have players at the peak of their valuation, it is unsurprising that several of the players linked with Real Madrid were from the French club.

Joao Neves and Vitinha were two such names.

However, as confirmed by COPE in a recent update, the response from the French capital is clear – neither Vitinha nor Never are seen to be saleable in any capacity.

PSG do not even consider listening to offers for the two stars, not even at the €150 mark that Perez promises. They have no intention of even entering the debate, which they claim is exactly what Real Madrid want.

The development, however, is a completely natural and expected response from the Ligue 1 club, who are well within their right to protect its stars from transfer speculations.

A mystery until Tuesday

As part of the same media interaction, Perez also confirmed his exact plan of action if voted back into power, and when exactly he plans to launch the bid for his ‘big name.’

With the election planned for Sunday, the president assured that he would send his opening bid of €150 million as early as Tuesday, opening a strong possibility that the deal may be done before the World Cup.

What it also strategically does, however, is open up a door to suspense and force members to vote for him to find out who the big name is. As matters stand, it is clear that he has stolen the spotlight from Enrique Riquelme.
