The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested five suspects and recovered substances suspected to be hard drugs during ongoing clearance operations across mountainous areas of Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area.
The operation, aimed at flushing out criminal elements and dismantling suspected hideouts, involved personnel of the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU), conventional police officers and tactical teams.
In a press release dated October 26, 2026, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, said the exercise covered Tudun Hawa Uku, Kurmin Gogo, Rafin Ayaba and adjoining mountainous areas, including trails within the operational corridor.
According to the statement, the operatives arrested five suspects and recovered substances suspected to be hard drugs, including a substance identified as “ice,” alongside related paraphernalia.
The suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue to establish their alleged involvement in criminal activities and determine whether they have links to other criminal networks.
The Command said the clearance operation remains ongoing, with security personnel expanding their coverage to additional routes and suspected criminal hideouts.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has directed the operatives to sustain the operation and extend it towards Mada Station and neighbouring areas to dislodge suspected criminals believed to be operating from the mountainous terrain.
The police commissioner also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information.
“The Command urges residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station,” the statement said.
The police have yet to disclose the identities of the arrested suspects or provide further details about the quantity of suspected drugs recovered.
