While some superheroes are limited to just having one superpower, Superman is among the ones who are fortunate enough to have many. When exposed to yellow sunlight, Kal-El/Clark Kent is gifted with super strength, super speed, invulnerability, heat vision, X-ray vision, freeze breath, the list goes on. The tradeoff is that he’s weakened by Kryptonite and loses those powers when exposed to red sunlight, but there are more pros than cons overall.
These powers (and weaknesses) aren’t just exclusive to Superman. All those with Kryptonian physiology have them as well, from full-blooded natives of the long-gone planet like Kara Zor-El and General Zod, to those who are half-human, half-Kryptonian, like Conner Kent and Jon Kent. This also applies to the Daxamites and Phaelosians, who are genetic offshoots of the Kryptonians.
For the most part, this lineup of abilities doesn’t differ among this category of powerful DC characters. However, DC Comics is about to introduce a new Kryptonian superpower, and for the time being, it will be limited to just one member of the Superman family.

The solicitation for January’s Superman Unlimited reveals that the issue will revolve around the many types of “visions” that Superman and Jon Kent, who’s going by Tomorrow Man these days, have. That includes being able to “see anything from ultraviolet to infrared,” microscopic vision, and telescopic vision, though they’re unable to see through lead. This subset of powers will be put to the test when something mysterious threatens National City, and more importantly, it’s teased that Jon will gain a new superpower “that even his father doesn’t have.”
It’s unclear whether this new power will be vision-centric as well, but it seems like it will be a permanent addition to his arsenal, as the solicitation concludes by saying that fans will need to “update Jon Kent’s DC Who’s Who entry after this one.” This won’t be the first superpower that’s unique to Jon. He’s also capable of manipulating the solar radiation in his body to either boost his other powers or emit outwards as electrical energy.

2026 has been an especially eventful year for Superman’s corner of the DC Universe. At the end of the DC K.O. event, Clark Kent went missing, then finally resurfaced right before the Kingdom of Zod crossover began. During that time he was absent, other members of the Superman Family filled in as the main protagonists of his books, including Clark’s teenaged self in Action Comics, Superboy Prime in the main Superman title, and Jon in Superman Unlimited.
Narrowing focus to Clark and Lois Lane’s son specifically, Jon started out the year still sharing the Superman mantle with his father. However, following an encounter with a time-traveling villain named Txyz, Jon became Tomorrow Man. He even donned a mask when he thought his younger self had been brought to the present, only for the boy to be revealed as Ultraboy, the son of Ultraman and Superwoman from Earth-3. Jon also managed to defeat the Eradicatrix during Kingdom of Zod.
With that crossover now over and 2026 winding down, Jon will retain the Tomorrow Man identity, though now he’ll wear a mask that doesn’t fully obscure his face. In the coming months, Superman Unlimited will put him and his father against rogues like The Royal Flush Gang, Maxima, and Toyman. The latter of whom will play an especially important role in Issue , as he’ll turn Superman and Tomorrow Man into living action figures, but as part of an investigation into thefts at “super-science” facilities like Stagg Laboratory, Steelworks, S.T.A.R. Labs, and Lexcorp.
Superman Unlimited will be released Wednesday, January 21 by DC Comics.
