Pokémon Gold & Silver Officially Return In New 30th Anniversary Collection

As part of Pokémon‘s 30th anniversary celebrations, the popular Gen 2 games, Gold and Silver, are making an official return in the form of a new commemorative collection. There’s been a lot going on for the franchise’s 30th anniversary. Apart from the highly sought-after 30th Celebration collection for Pokémon TCG, The Pokémon Company has been issuing several releases centered around the 30 years of history that the series carries. There are no major new core games coming out this year, as Pokémon Winds and Waves only arrive in 2027, but fans are gearing up with merch to celebrate the anniversary.

So far, The Pokémon Company and Game Freak have presented a ton of different items that fans can pick up, but now, a brand-new nostalgic collection celebrating the 30th anniversary is available. According to a report by CBR, a new set of T-shirts centered around Pokémon Gold and Silver have arrived, celebrating two of the most beloved games in the series. The T-shirts feature the mascots for each of the Gen 2 games, exactly as they appear in the cover art for the original games, released in 1999.

These products were revealed a while back and are part of a wider collection that contains similar T-shirts for every core game in the series so far. However, the new Pokémon Gold and Silver T-shirts for the franchise’s 30th anniversary are more stylish than most. They are basic black T-shirts featuring the Japanese logo and cover Pokémon for each title, respectively, making them must-have items for nostalgic players. On top of that, these gorgeous T-shirts come with one extra item that may be what convinces you to purchase them.

Each T-shirt comes with a special pouch that is made as a replica of the original box for the games. This means the Pokémon Gold T-shirt featuring Ho-Oh, for example, can be stored inside a great-looking Pokémon Gold pouch. The new Pokémon 30th anniversary celebration release arrived earlier this year and can be found at Pokémon Center stores in Japan, as well as online storefronts. The retail price at Pokémon Center is ¥3,960 yen, at least during the original release a few months back.

These two T-shirts are part of a much wider collection, and fans of Pokémon Gold and Silver can celebrate even further with dedicated new merch. As seen in a report by Bulbapedia‘s Kelsi Davis, there is more Gen 2 merch on the way, including exclusive Ho-Oh and Lugia plush dolls, super stylish Sukajan jackets for each game, mugs, bookends, keychains, stickers, and even a correction tape in the shape of Moomoo Milk.

If you’re a fan of the remakes, know that HeartGold and SoulSilver return for Pokémon’s 30th anniversary in the form of premium enamel pins that replicate the boxes for the 2009 titles. Of course, Gen 2 may be one of the most popular parts of the franchise’s history, but it’s not the only one.
