The New England Patriots‘ offseason has already been a massive success, as their pursuit of former Philadelphia Eagles standout wide receiver A.J. Brown ended with a blockbuster early-June trade.

Offensively, the Patriots should feel optimistic about the 2026-27 WR production, as they now possess a physically imposing 6-foot-1 Super Bowl champion wideout capable of making game-altering grabs in crucial moments.

Defensively, though, New England shouldn’t be opposed to adding a dominant force on the edge who could help the franchise generate more pressure in drop-back situations. Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton believes that a midseason trade for a Las Vegas Raiders star edge rusher who’s recorded 69.5 sacks in his career could materialize.

“As of now, the Las Vegas Raiders and Maxx Crosby seem ready to move forward together after the Baltimore Ravens backed out of a deal for him,” Moton wrote Thursday. “According to ESPN’s RyanPatriots-Raiders trade pitch sends $96 millionMcFadden, the Ravens had medical concerns about the pass-rusher’s knee.”

“Crosby has said he’s happy to be back with the Silver and Black, but the team could revisit trade offers if it goes into sell mode near the midseason deadline. The Patriots would benefit from an uninspiring start to the 2026-27 campaign by the Raiders. Realistically, it could occur, as Las Vegas has clear deficiencies on both sides of the ball and isn’t expected to be much improved a year after their miserable 3-14 showing.

Assuming Crosby continues to wreak havoc, though, the Raiders could view their poor start to the season as a prime opportunity to swap the five-time Pro Bowler for future draft capital that could help them take their rebuilding process to the next level.

In that case, New England’s chances of acquiring the 28-year-old high motor defender would be higher than ever, as sending at least one first-round pick to Las Vegas for Crosby is unquestionably a solid starting point.

Expect the Patriots to root passionately for the Raiders’ early-season demise.
