Pat Biondo steps down as Kentucky Football GM

Kentucky Football general manager Pat Biondo is stepping down from his role due to personal reasons, UK announced Tuesday in a press release.

“Football General Manager Pat Biondo has informed us of his decision to step down from his role at UK. We respect his choice and the personal considerations behind it. We are grateful for his contributions to our program,” the school said in a statement.

Biondo came to UK after previously serving as the Oregon Ducks director of recruiting strategy. He was with the Ducks since 2022 before making his way to Lexington.

“After much thought, I have made the decision to leave UK,” said Biondo in a press release. “This is a personal move and I hope everyone will respect the private nature of such a tough decision. It has been a privilege to work for a great university, wonderful football program and on behalf of such passionate fans. I especially want to thank Coach Stein for the opportunity to work with and learn from him.”

This means that head coach Will Stein is looking for a new full-time GM just one week before fall camp begins ahead of his first season with the Wildcats.

Because of the timing, look for UK to promote from within, potentially on an interim or permanent basis. It’s unlikely that an external candidate will want to come in with the new season arriving, so UK may not have its true GM until the 2027 offseason.
