Nick Woltemade set to complete a shock Juventus switch on Deadline Day

Nick Woltemade looks set to complete a surprise move to Italian icons Juventus on Tuesday, according to Fabrizio Romano.

In what is one of this summer’s biggest shocks, discussions between all parties have progressed rapidly over the past 24 hours and the German international will officially be unveiled in Turin on Deadline Day.

With the 24-year-old making it clear to both his representatives and the Newcastle hierarch that he was keen on complete a shock switch to Italy, Romano has reported that Woltemade will join the Old Lady on a season-long loan deal.

Now set to arrive in Turin and complete his medical, the 12-cap international does not have either an option or obligation included in the deal.

With Juventus making it clear following Dusan Vlahovic’s departure to Besiktas that a new number nine was at the top of their late summer wishlist, Luciano Spalletti’s side have acted fast.

Romano also reported over the weekend that bitter domestic rivals Napoli had already reached out to Newcastle regarding Woltemade’s availability and were keen on striking their own respective deal.

While the towering German striker might have arrived at St. James’ Park for a club record fee of £69million last summer, he has drastically failed to find his feet in the Premier League.

Despite enjoying a bright start to life on Tyneside, Woltemade failed to find the net in any of his final 13 appearances across all competitions last season.

Although the misfiring German international might have made a 19-minute cameo appearance during Newcastle’s 2-0 victory away at Tottenham on Saturday evening, new boss Matthias Jaissle doesn’t see the ex-Stuttgart starlet as a key part of his plans.
