Meadville’s boys volleyball team will now play its PIAA Class 2A semifinal at the same borough where it hopes to compete in the tournament’s final.

Coach Nick Bancroft confirmed to the Erie Times-News the Bulldogs and the Brandywine Heights Bullets will now meet at State College High School’s gymnasium. The June 9 match has a 4 p.m. start.

The 2A semi was originally scheduled for Bald Eagle Area in Wingate, a northeastern suburb of State College. However, Bancroft was told June 8 about the site switch because of a lack of air conditioning in the high school’s gymnasium.

Brandywine Heights and South Fayette held their 4A quarterfinal at BEA on June 6. People with each program complained to match officials about the excessive humidity, according to Bancroft.

Meadville (19-0) and Brandywine Heights (20-2) seek to return to State College, only at Penn State University’s Rec Hall, for the PIAA’s 2A championship match on June 13. It’s scheduled for 11 a.m.
