One of the biggest storylines of the NFL offseason was the trade that fell apart after being agreed to that would’ve sent star edge-rusher Maxx Crosby from the raiders">Las Vegas Raiders to the Baltimore Ravens for two first-round picks.
While the Raiders and Crosby seem committed to making their relationship work despite the bad blood between them that prompted the superstar pass-rusher to request a trade after the season ended.
However, ESPN’s Dan Graziano believes Crosby is one of a few players who could be moved at the NFL trade deadline in early November if the Raiders are out of the playoff picture.
“I wouldn’t expect Crosby trade talk to heat up again until he gets on a field and shows he’s healthy,” Graziano wrote. “And from everything I’ve been told, that could be in August or later.
“Crosby might stick with the Raiders all year at this point, but if he’s going to get traded at all, we’re probably looking at something in-season ahead of the deadline. If a team such as the Cowboys, Bills, Bears or Patriots finds itself in contention and in need of an impact pass rusher, things could get interesting here again.”
All four of the teams Graziano mentioned were linked to Crosby before the Ravens deal went down, and it wouldn’t be surprising if any of them revisited a deal for the 28-year-old DE to bolster their respective playoff pushes.
The Cowboys were arguably the team connected to Crosby most, and if offseason acquisition Rashan Gary flops, Dallas could be the first team to call Vegas.
The Bills also made an offer for Crosby, but it was reportedly turned down because the first-rounder they offered fell near the end of the first round. The same would likely be the same this time around, but getting any first-round pick for Crosby may be enticing at this point.
There’s also a chance the Raiders hold onto the 69.5-sack pass-rusher too. With the team building around No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza, Vegas will need a formidable defense to keep its offense off the field for long stretched. Any defense will be worse without Crosby than with him.
