Matthew Stafford climbed back into the NFL’s top quarterback conversation after one of the best seasons of his career. According to ESPN’s latest survey of league executives, coaches, and scouts, the Los Angeles Rams veteran is once again viewed among the game’s elite.

Stafford is ranked third on ESPN’s quarterback list, which is based on votes from NFL personnel. He moved up from sixth place last year because he had a great season in 2025.

Stafford earned 17 percent of the first-place votes following a campaign that included 46 touchdown passes and only 8 interceptions. According to ESPN, only Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady have previously produced a season with at least 45 touchdown passes and fewer than 10 interceptions.

One NFL head coach believed no quarterback matched Stafford’s level of play. “Nobody played better than him last year, and it wasn’t even close,” the coach said, pointing to the veteran’s command of the Rams offense throughout the season.
