Luther Burden shares reaction to Bears QB Caleb Williams' injury

The Chicago Bears took their first loss of the season Sunday when they fell to the Minnesota Vikings 9-3, but the game pales in comparison to the injury that caused quarterback Caleb Williams to exit early. In the fourth quarter, Williams went down awkwardly while scrambling to his left in the red zone and left the field in visible pain. Eventually, Williams was carted to the locker room while fans feared the worst.

Chicagoland could breathe a little sigh of relief when head coach Ben Johnson confirmed Williams suffered a hamstring injury, though the severity is still unknown. Meanwhile, his teammates were coping with the potential loss of their quarterback, including wide receiver Luther Burden.

“It hurts, man,” Burden said to reporters inside the locker room. “Thought we had a touchdown, then I saw him go down. He’s the heart, soul, and engine of this team. Hopefully he’s okay and gets back out there.”

Williams will undergo testing on Monday but was seen walking around the locker room with only a slight limp and nothing around his injured leg. Assuming Williams has to miss time, Tyson Bagent will step in as the starter for the first time since 2023. Bagent finished the game 5 of 9 for 54 yards.
