Michigan football loses 2027 OL commit Sidney Rouleau to decommitment

Michigan football had appeared to have found a potential diamond in the rough, having managed to secure a commitment from 2027 Gatineau (Quebec) The Brook Hill School offensive tackle Sidney Rouleau.

Rouleau had pledged to the Wolverines in March 2026, just a few months after head coach Kyle Whittingham had taken over the program. He went from being a low-level recruit to becoming a four-star according to ESPN, which has him as the No. 254 player in the class, regardless of position. Though the other recruiting services kept him as a three-star, it still appeared to be a pretty good find by the new staff.

However, on Tuesday, the Wolverines got some bad news, with Rivals reporting that Rouleau is backing off his pledge and reopening his recruitment.

Rouleau’s decommitment comes on the heels of having visited Syracuse this past weekend. In the past 24 hours, two Rivals analysts — Sam Spiegelman and Ethan McDowell — put in predictions that he will eventually pledge to the Orange.

Without Rouleau in the fold, the Wolverines still have three offensive linemen pledged to the class, with four-star tackle Jakari Lipsey, four-star interior linemen Lincoln Mageo and Louis Esposito still committed to the maize and blue.
