“We’re going to win by a landslide. Florentino is Florentino—I call him ‘Dad.’ He’s a tremendous person, the greatest president of all time, and a spectacular person in my life.
“We’ve won so much together, we’ve travelled together, and I know his goal has always been for the members to be the owners of the club.
“He’s always said that, and he’ll keep his word: Madrid belongs to the members.”
More to the story
The Brazilian’s relationship with Perez dates back many years and spans one of the most successful periods in Real Madrid’s history.
Having experienced that era first-hand, Roberto Carlos believes the current president remains the best person to lead the club forward.
“I know a lot of people at Atleti and Barça, and they’re the ones who don’t want Florentino to stay, because he wins titles and signs the best players.

“Big signings? I know he has interesting options, interesting names, but we don’t go after players with contracts at other clubs—we respect the contract.
“And if a player wants to play for Madrid, we can talk, but even then it depends: Florentino does everything very well.”
The Brazilian also believes that success is precisely why criticism continues to follow Perez.
Reflecting on the controversies surrounding the election campaign, he added,
“Florentino knows exactly what he’s talking about, about the controversies, because he knows there’s a group that doesn’t want him to stay because he’s won so many titles and will win more.
“Being president of Madrid isn’t for just anyone—it’s a massive club.”
