The Lagos State University (LASU) has introduced an Artificial Intelligence-powered support service to assist applicants navigating the Lagos State University Central Admission Clearance Application (LACACA) process.
The university said the initiative was designed to make admission clearance services more accessible, responsive and efficient by providing applicants with step-by-step guidance on routine enquiries throughout the clearance process.
According to a statement signed by the Deputy Registrar and Coordinator, Centre for Information and Public Relations, LASU, Oluwayemisi A. Thomas-Onashile, the new AI support service is available through the dedicated number 0707 810 5804.
Applicants can interact with the AI-powered service exclusively through text messages and screenshots. The university clarified that the service does not accept audio calls, voice recordings or video calls.
The AI assistant provides information on key aspects of the LACACA process, including admission clearance procedures and requirements, required documentation, payment-related enquiries, clearance status, matriculation number-related processes and frequently asked questions.
The service also provides applicants with step-by-step guidance on the dos and don’ts of the clearance process, with the aim of helping them avoid mistakes, misinformation and unauthorised practices.
LASU explained that the AI service was designed to complement, rather than replace, human support.
It said the system can distinguish between routine enquiries that can be resolved automatically and issues requiring record verification or official decisions. Where human intervention is required, applicants would be directed to the appropriate LACACA support personnel through official channels.
The university further stressed that the AI service operates strictly within approved LACACA procedures and guidelines and would not speculate where sufficient information is unavailable. Instead, such applicants would be referred to official support channels.
LASU said the introduction of the AI-powered service reflects its commitment to responsible use of Artificial Intelligence to improve administrative service delivery, enhance the student experience and make university processes more efficient.
The university urged applicants to use the dedicated LACACA AI support number strictly for LACACA-related enquiries and to rely only on official LASU and LACACA communication channels for information concerning the admission clearance process.
