Prediction: Napoli vs Como

Looking to make it back-to-back Serie A victories on Sunday evening, Napoli will welcome Como to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

With a stacked schedule from across Europe’s elite this weekend, there are plenty of eye-catching betting promotions available.

Starting with the hosts, eventually relinquishing their La Liga crown last season as they were forced to settle for a silver medal finish among Italy’s elite, Napoli have their sights fixed on mounting another title charge this time around. Opening up the 2026/27 campaign with a late 2-0 victory away at Genoa last weekend, Max Allegri’s men will be looking to make a high-profile statement here. Despite signing off their summer preparations with a thrilling 6-2 win against Greek outfit Aris earlier in the month, Napoli have largely gained a reputation for their defensive grit. In fact, continuing on from last season, Allegri’s side have registered three consecutive Serie A clean sheets. It should also be highlighted, the Azzurri have lost just a pair of top-flight showdowns in front of their own supporters since way back in December 2024.

All still dealing with respective knee injuries, Napoli will once again be without the trio of Alessandro Buongiorno, Luca Marianucci and former Salernitana defender Pasquale Mazzocchi this weekend.

Coming off the bench and opening his Serie A account against Genoa last weekend, ex-Manchester City superstar Kevin De Bruyne should be handed a full recall on Sunday evening. Making his move from Manchester United a permanent one this summer, Norwegian international Ramus Hojlund will spearhead Napoli’s attack.

As for the visitors, shattering a string of records last season as they punched a maiden Champions League ticket, Como have rightfully received a string of plaudits from across the continent. Embarking on what has been a public fairytale under the guidance of Cesc Fabregas, some have even billed the Lombardy-based outfit as a genuine title contender this year. Despite feeling that they might have missed out on a potential opportunity last weekend as they opened up the 2026/27 campaign with a 1-1 stalemate away at Udinese, the one-time Arsenal skipper certainly finds the mood in his camp at a continued high. In fact, mustering a staggering 35 points from their 19 Serie A showdowns away from the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia last season, only the Milan duo could boast a better tally on their travels.

Yet to make a single appearance across any competition since back in February, Como will once again be without the services of Dutch striker Jayden Addai this weekend. However, aside from the former AZ Alkmaar youngster, Fabregas’ side have reported a clean bill of health.

Completing a blockbuster permanent switch from Spanish icons Real Madrid this summer, attacking talisman and Argentinian international Nico Paz will play a leading role in the final third here.

Napoli vs Como Key Factors to Consider

  • When Napoli and Como last met for a Serie A showdown back on May 2nd, Sunday’s opponents played out a 0-0 stalemate at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.
  • In fact, both of their Serie A battles during the 2025/26 campaign finished in a goalless draw.
  • Napoli have suffered just a pair of Serie A defeats in front of their own supporters since way back in December 2024.
  • Como registered 35 points from their 19 Serie A battles outside of Lombardy last season.
  • Five of Como’s previous six Serie A showdowns on either side of the summer interval have finished with under 2.5 goals.

While we might be treated to a blockbuster Serie A showdown this weekend, Sunday’s opponents do have a habit of producing cagey affairs when they meet. Playing out back-to-back 0-0 stalemates last season, chances could come at a premium here. Alongside Napoli registering three consecutive Serie A clean sheets on either side of the summer interval, it should also be noted that five of Como’s previous six top-flight battles have finished with under 2.5 goals.
