The vice-chancellor described the decision as a strategic, student-focused reorganisation intended to make the transition from university education to further studies or national service more convenient for graduates.
The change reflects the institution’s effort to align its graduation calendar more closely with students’ academic completion dates and subsequent opportunities.
Trinity University Highlights Academic and Skills Development Milestones
Beyond the graduating figures, Kolawole highlighted institutional milestones, including the elevation of Prof. Modupeade Adetunji, a specialist in Food Microbiology and Mycotoxicology, as the university’s first homegrown professor.
He also disclosed that the university Senate had restructured its academic units into four distinct faculties: Management and Social Sciences, Allied Health Sciences, Nursing Sciences, and National and Applied Sciences.
The restructuring forms part of the institution’s efforts to organise its academic programmes and strengthen its educational offerings.
Kolawole further highlighted the integration of compulsory skills acquisition and digital literacy partnerships into students’ learning experiences.
According to him, the initiatives have already enabled some students to secure international remote jobs before graduation, demonstrating the institution’s focus on preparing students for opportunities beyond conventional employment pathways.
The university said these initiatives complement its academic programmes by exposing students to practical skills and digital competencies that can support their professional development.
