Borussia Mönchengladbach have endured a miserable start to the Bundesliga season, picking up zero points from their opening two games.
After being beaten 3-0 by RB Leipzig in their opener, Die Fohlen looked on course for their first win when they raced into a 3-1 lead against SV Elversberg at Borussia-Park on Saturday.
However, they completely let the game slip away, eventually suffering a dramatic 4-3 defeat.
Speaking to ZDF after the game, Gladbach captain Tim Kleindienst was furious with the mistakes and lapses in concentration that allowed Elversberg back into the match.
“We need to raise our level of focus as quickly as possible so that it lasts for 90 minutes. And I have no idea what the reason is – maybe watch less TikTok or whatever. I honestly don’t care what they do,” Kleindienst said, delivering a blunt message to his teammates.
“At the end of the day, they just need to do something so that they stay clear-headed for 90 minutes, make it through the full 90 minutes, and keep their focus so that we can defend until the very end. And not keep giving the ball away needlessly, making misplaced passes and committing fouls.”
