Kiradech Aphibarnrat apologizes to fans as he loses card for 2027, 'I really let them down'

As the DP World Tour season begins to wind down, numerous players face the prospect of losing their cards this year.

It is back to qualifying school for those who finished outside the top 100 bubble after the Genesis Championship.

Obviously there are still a few events to be played, but those who finish outside the top 100 this week in South Korea will lose their cards.

Some big names fell victim to exactly that this week, including popular Thai player Kiradech Aphibarnrat.

The 37-year-old missed the cut this week in South Korea and will now be forced to go back to Q-school in order to try and earn back his DP World Tour card.

Aphibarnrat was visibly upset after he was forced to retire from the Genesis Championship with a back injury on Friday.

The man from Thailand spoke honestly about his recent struggles after leaving the golf course due to a back issue.

“First of all, I just have to apologise. I really let them (the fans) down,“ he said.

“There’s not many times in my life that I have disappointed people, especially my family and all the fans.

“In the last 15 years I’ve had a really good career but just the last three or four years haven’t been easy. I’m a fighter so I believe I’m going to get past all of this and we’ll come back strong.”

Of course, Aphibarnrat has absolutely nothing to apologise for. He has tried his best over the past few months to claw his way back inside the top 100 in the standings.

However, as is sometimes the case in golf, the harder he has worked on his game, the worse his results have become.

Perhaps a complete reset and returning to qualifying school will be a good thing in the long run for Kiradech Aphibarnrat.
