Koo spent the 2025 season with both the Atlanta Falcons and the Giants, where the once-promising kicker struggled immensely in New York. The Jets had signed the veteran earlier in the offseason but decided to release him and bring in Sanders as a replacement.
Sanders was released by the Giants earlier this week after spending just over two months with the team. He signed with the Giants as a free agent in early March but was cut on Monday following the acquisition of veteran receivers Odell Beckham Jr., JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Braxton Berrios.
Both Koo and Sanders had extremely short stints with the Giants. Sanders is expected to emerge as the Jets’ starting kicker for the upcoming season, and his release by the Giants this week came as a surprise to many.
Koo will likely land on another roster before training camp, while the Jets have officially signed former Giants kicker Jason Sanders.
