The NFL calendar has turned toward the summer but with training camp and preseason games just around the corner in July and August, there is still some finished offseason business in June.

Although some current unsigned veteran players will fade into retirement without a team or which to play in 2026, several notable names left on the open market are bound to get chances as teams reconsider depth charts.

Heres’s a look at the top options who can still contribute and where they might fit:

Wide receivers

Stefon Diggs, Patriots

The Chiefs and Rams are in the mix for him after the Patriots traded for A.J. Brown. But there’s a chance he could work his way back to New England to help Brown.

Deebo Samuel, Commanders

Samuel has faded as a big playmaker hard, but the Ravens are rumored to take a shot on him late. The Chargers and Bears also might be interested in veteran depth.

Tyreek Hill, Dolphins

Not surprisingly, the Ravens and Chargers (with former Miami coach Mike McDaniel) are also considering whether to take a flyer on the fading speedster. A Chiefs reunion looks less likely.

Running backs

Nick Chubb, Texans

There is still speculation he stays in the Lone Star State and joins the Cowboys to improve the experience backing up Javonte Williams.

Kareem Hunt. Chiefs

There’s a chance the Chiefs bring him back late behind Kenneth Walker III should rookie Emmett Johnson need more time to be a reliable power-running contributor.

Najee Harris, Chargers

There’s not much action on the former Steeler who tore his Achilles’ early in his first Los Angeles season. His best case is giving the Raiders more experience behind Asthon Jeanty.

Tight ends

Jonnu Smith, Steelers

One off his two former teams in the AFC East, the Patriots and Dolphins, might bring him back ffor a No. 2 receiving role.

Darren Waller, Dolphins

His best bets to stay in the league after coming back last season would be providing some insurance for the Packers or another red zone target for the Panthers.

Quarterback

Jimmy Garoppolo, Rams

It’s surprising Jimmy G hasn’t found a home in the wake of the team drafting Ty Simpson to go with Matthew Stafford and Stetson Bennett. Should there be more holdout issues with Jacoby Brissett, following Matt LaFleur in the Cardinals mix might be the only shot.

Offensive linemen

Taylor Decker, Lions

Lions fans don’t want to think about it, but a Ben Johnson reunion on the Bears makes the most sense, following by giving either the Packers or Vikings some depth.

Joel Bitonio, Browns

The best spot for him remains as a swing option for the Falcons, following former offensive-minded coach Kevin Stefanskik.

Kevin Zeitler, Titans

The Eagles should take a look on the long-time plug-and-play star. The Giants also would make sense for depth.

Mekhi Becton, Chargers

Becton is shaky for an Eagles return, but watch out for him landing late with Kellen Moore’s Saints.

Joey Bosa, Bills

Playing with younger brother Nick and the pass-rush starved 49ers makes too much sense not to happen by camp time.

Jadeveon Clowney, Cowboys

Clowney is a mercenary late in his career, available to help well vs. the run and boost a pass rush. The Eagles need to think about him for sure beyond adding Jonathan Greenard with no blockbuster in the works.

Cameron Jordan, Saints

Jordan would still be rather valuable in the rotation back with his former defensive coordinator on the Bears. There’s also a push to get his presence to help the rebuilding Cowboys under Christian Parker.

Von Miller, Commanders

Miller has lobbied to continue his career with the Broncos, so he can go back and help a Super Bowl contender back from where it all started, now 11 years removed from his Super Bowl 50 MVP turn.

A.J. Epenesa, Bills

Epenesa could be a late reclamation for the Seahawks (where Leslie Frazier) works as part of their rotation.

Haason Reddick, Buccaneers

Reddick’s pass rush for hire faded hard in Tampa Bay so it might be down to Green Bay as a Packers contingency for Micah Parsons.

Bobby Wagner, Commanders

The Bengals, Jaguars and 49ers also have been mentioned as natural good fits for his veteran leadership and production. It’s more likely he goes back to Seattle one more time or extends in Washington.

Kyle Van Noy, Ravens

He also should be on the 49ers radar and there’s always a chance he can return to finish his career with the Patriots.

Cornerbacks

Trevon Diggs, Cowboys

Let’s start and end with a Diggs brother. He would work best back in a previous Cowboys’ defensive scheme with Dan Quinn’s rival Commanders standing out most.
