‘It’s annoying – Jurgen Klopp’s camp delivers crushing response to Real Madrid election promise

What began as one of the biggest talking points of Real Madrid’s presidential election campaign has run into resistance from the very people who know Jurgen Klopp best.

Just hours after presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme publicly identified the former Liverpool boss as his preferred choice to lead Real Madrid, a response from Klopp’s inner circle appears to have poured cold water on the idea.

The announcement had generated significant attention because it positioned Klopp as the centrepiece of Riquelme’s sporting project. 

However, fresh reports from Germany suggest that the former Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool coach has no intention of returning to club management anytime soon.

What’s the story?

As quoted by Florian Plettenberg, Marc Kosicke, Klopp’s agent, was far from pleased to see his client’s name become part of the election debate.

Reacting to the announcement, Kosicke said, “It’s annoying! Jurgen Klopp is happy in his role at Red Bull and has no ambitions to work as a manager at a club.”

The comments represent the clearest indication yet that Klopp is not currently considering a return to the dugout, regardless of the club involved.

The journalist also went further, claiming that a move to Real Madrid is not viewed as a realistic possibility. 

He suggested that if Klopp ever decides to coach again, the German national team would be the most likely destination rather than another club job.

So what now?

Interestingly, Riquelme’s campaign had already acknowledged the difficulty of convincing Klopp before the response from his agent emerged.

In the official statement announcing his plans, the candidate admitted that the former Liverpool manager had repeatedly stated his desire to stay away from coaching in the short term.

“We know that Jurgen Klopp has publicly stated that he has no intention of returning to management in the short term and that he has turned down numerous offers. 

“That is precisely why we believe Real Madrid’s challenge is different. Because there are many great clubs, but there is only one Real Madrid.”

For now, though, the strongest message is coming from Klopp’s side, as the German appears content in his current role within the Red Bull football structure, and his representatives are making it clear that a return to club management is not currently on the agenda.
