According to Italian media reports, Michel Aebischer is set to join Union Berlin from Pisa. The Switzerland international spent last season on loan at Pisa, where he was unable to keep the club in Serie A.
However, the club activated their option to buy from Bologna. The 29-year-old played over 100 games for Bologna, and he was also part of the squad that won the club’s first major title in half a century.
Kicker didn’t confirm the reports from Italy, but the German newspaper did report that Union Berlin are looking to sign a central midfielder. Aebischer played 44 times for Switzerland, including their first four games at the 2026 World Cup as they reached the quarter-final for the first time since 1938.Union Berlin continued their preparations for the upcoming season with a 3-2 win over Cyproit side Aris Limassol FC on Saturday as new signings Emmanuel Latte Lath and Zeno Van den Bosch scored their first goals for the club.
