South Carolina enters the matchup 1-0 after opening its season with a dominant 57-0 victory over Kent State. Quarterback LaNorris Sellers completed 19 of 23 passes for 270 yards and three touchdowns, helping the Gamecocks pile up 645 total yards, including 278 on the ground. Shane Beamer’s team now gets one more nonconference tune-up before beginning SEC play against Mississippi State next week.
Towson comes to Columbia at 0-2 after losses to Maine and Navy, with the Tigers falling 42-15 to the Midshipmen last weekend. Quarterback Andrew Indorf threw for 208 yards and two touchdowns in that game, but Towson now faces an even bigger challenge against an SEC opponent on the road. Saturday will mark the first-ever meeting between South Carolina and Towson.
