Hornets are 'perfectly fine' with keeping both of their first-round picks

Considering their impressive second half last season, many have speculated that the Charlotte Hornets would take a big swing this offseason, using their two first-round picks (No. 14 and 18) to bring in a star-caliber player to pair with a young core headlined by Kon Knueppel and Brandon Miller.

However, Brett Siegel of Clutch Points reported Monday that that may not be the case after all. According to Siegel, “sources said (Charlotte) would be perfectly fine keeping and making both selections to diversify their core and add essential depth to take another step forward during the 2026-27 season.”

While this may not be the splashiest of ideas, adding depth around Knueppel, Miller and LaMelo Ball would be wise, particularly in the frontcourt. Not only would this help Charlotte reach their first playoffs since the 2015-16 season, but it’d help solidify them as a playoff team for years to come.
