‘Here we go’ – Liverpool midfielder is ‘all set’ for Man United move as shock deal is agreed

Liverpool are reportedly set to lose a talented prospect from their academy to one of their biggest rivals.

The Reds have made a happy habit of acquiring prodigious gems from the underage setups of other clubs across the UK, with Harvey Elliott (Fulham), Rio Ngumoha (Chelsea) and Trey Nyoni (Leicester) among the standout examples in recent years.

However, the shoe is now on the other foot as a certain club from along the M62 put the final touches on the signing of an up-and-coming talent from Merseyside.

Man United to sign Liverpool academy gem Isaac Konde

On Monday evening, Fabrizio Romano took to X to report that Manchester United have completed a deal to sign Liverpool academy midfielder Isaac Konde, with the Italian including his trademark ‘here we go’.

The 16-year-old is ‘all set’ to join the Red Devils after ‘formal steps’ were completed over the past couple of days.

A sore one to take fo Liverpool

Although the loss of an academy player to Man United mightn’t carry the same shock element as a similar move for a first-team star would, it’ll sting badly for Liverpool to lose Konde to their arch-rivals.

The teenager – who can play on either the left- or right-hand side of midfield – made six appearances for the Reds in the Under-18 Premier League last season and provided one assist (Transfermarkt).

Even though he still had a few hurdles to jump before entering first-team contention at Anfield, it’s still galling to lose a player of the 16-year-old’s promise, especially to the Old Trafford outfit.

It’ll be compelling to see how Konde progresses in the academy ranks at Man United and whether he can make the same major breakthrough as Kobbie Mainoo in recent years.

We wish the youngster well in his future endeavours, but it hurts from a Liverpool perspective to lose such a highly-rated talent to such a fierce rival.
