‘He is some player’: President Trump praises Lamar Jackson

On Tuesday, United States President Donald Trump traveled to Baltimore County, Maryland, to announce a major defense manufacturing investment at Sparrows Point. During his speech to the crowd there, however, he couldn’t help but bring up the hometown Baltimore Ravens.

Trump was actually joined by several members of the Ravens’ football team during his speech, but he made a point to reference a player who wasn’t in the crowd, but he very clearly admires: star quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Trump Praises Ravens

During his speech on Tuesday, Trump welcomed several members of the Baltimore Ravens who were in attendance at the event: Marlon Humphrey, Tyler Loop, Ryan Eckley, and Nick Moore.

“These guys are making a lot of money. They’re doing very well. I think they’re 3-1 or something like that. They’re doing good,” Trump said of the Ravens.

Trump spent quite a while discussing Moore, who is the team’s long snapper.

“He sort of looked coach-like. And I said, tell me, is he a coach? They said, no, he’s the snapper. You know, nowadays those long snappers are very valuable,” Trump said of Moore. “It’s an amazing job you do with that. And he’s got an unblemished record. How far is that? Like 10 yards deep or more? 15 yards. And he throws strikes. He throws strikes. I don’t know how the hell you do it. So he’s got a little gray hair, I noticed. But, you know, they don’t care.

“They want him for one play. They want him for one play. You look damn good, too.”

‘He is some player’

Trump would not end his comments without praising the team’s superstar quarterback, Lamar Jackson.

“What a team you have. You have a great team this year. Say hello to your quarterback. He’s a little bit injured,” Trump said. “Tell him I know his mother. I met his mother a few times in Palm Beach, and she’s a fantastic, beautiful woman. But give him my regards. He is some player.”

Jackson is indeed dealing with an ankle sprain he suffered during Sunday’s 24-18 win over the Tennessee Titans. We’ll have to see whether it causes him to miss any time.
