The New York Giants could not pull off another big win in Week 5. New York tied with Washington after overcoming a 14-point deficit late in the game. Now the Giants are already thinking ahead about roster moves they might want to make after failing to beat their division rival.

The Giants will host former Pro Bowl edge rusherYannick Ngakoue for a workout on Monday, per NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

Ngakoue has been a productive pass rusher through his career, logging 71.5 sacks thus far. The 31-year-old veteran did not play during the 2025 NFL season while recovering from an ankle injury. Now he is fully healthy and looking to make his return to the NFL.

Adding Ngakoue could give the Giants some valuable depth on the edges. They still have Abdul Carter and Kayvon Thibodeaux as starters, but could use some reinforcements. Remember, New York needs to find a replacement for Brian Burns. who suffered a torn ACL and is now on injured reserve.

Rushing the passer was not the problem for New York in Week 5. The Giants sacked Jayden Daniels five times on Sunday, though most of those sacks did not come from edge rushers. Dru Phillips logged two sacks from the slot and Arvell Reese and Tremaine Edmunds both got home from middle linebacker. So adding another body on the edge could be a smart move.

Now the Giants are 3-1-1 on the season and hold a 1.5-game lead in the NFC East division standings. This will give New York some margin for error through the middle stretches of the regular season. But if they want to become a playoff team, the Giants will need to continue winning games even without Jaxson Dart at quarterback.
