FUTA Appoints Prof. Hezekiah Ayoola Acting Dean of Newly Established School of Architecture
The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has appointed Professor Hezekiah Adedayo Ayoola as the Acting Dean of its newly established School of Architecture.
The appointment, approved by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji, took effect from August 1, 2026.
Until his new appointment, Professor Ayoola served as the Head of the Department of Architecture, a position he held from August 1, 2023. He is expected to pioneer the newly created School of Architecture and provide the leadership required to position it for academic excellence.
A distinguished academic and researcher with expertise in architecture, housing and environment-behaviour studies, Ayoola has over 18 years of experience in teaching, research and university administration.
He earned his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Architecture from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, in 2015, after obtaining his M.Phil. and Master of Architecture degrees from the same institution. He also holds a Bachelor of Technology (Honours) degree in Architecture from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso.
Professor Ayoola began his academic career as an Assistant Lecturer at Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji-Arakeji, in 2009 before joining FUTA as a Lecturer II in October 2011. He rose through the academic ranks and was promoted to the rank of Professor in 2023.
Throughout his career, he has published more than 60 scholarly articles in reputable local and international journals and conference proceedings. He has also supervised several postgraduate students at the master’s and doctoral levels.
Ayoola is a registered member of the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON), the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA), and the Association of Architectural Educators in Nigeria (AARCHES). He was recently approved for elevation to the rank of Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Architects.
FUTA said the Acting Dean is expected to provide strategic leadership for the School of Architecture, guide its staff and students, and drive its growth in line with the university’s vision of academic excellence and innovation.
