Former Tennessee Titans CB L'Jarius Sneed reunites with Chiefs

· · 2 min read

As expected, former Tennessee Titans cornerback L’Jarius Sneed is heading back to where his career took off. After playing only 12 games in two seasons in Tennessee, the veteran cornerback is reuniting with the Kansas City Chiefs in a move that gives their secondary much-needed help.

Sneed was traded to the Titans in March 2024 for a 2025 third-round pick and a 2024 seventh-round pick swap. He immediately signed a four-year, $76 million contract to shore up their secondary with an elite-level cornerback. However, his production dipped, and the Titans’ defense never found a consistent rhythm with him in the lineup.

Furthermore, injuries defined his short tenure with the franchise, as he missed 22 of 34 games over two seasons. This followed a relatively healthy tenure in Kansas City, during which he had missed only three games over the previous three seasons before being traded to Tennessee.

Now, he returns to the place where he contributed to two Super Bowl victories as their number-one cornerback on a one-year, up-to-$5 million contract. The Chiefs lost their two starting cornerbacks to the Los Angeles Rams this offseason, after the Rams similarly traded Trent McDuffie, who agreed to an extension following the deal. They also lost teammate on the opposite side, Jaylen Watson, in free agency. Therefore, it felt foregone that Sneed would return following his release from the Titans this offseason.

As for the Titans, they spent big money this offseason to bring in former New Orleans Saints CB Alontae Taylor and former New York Giants CB Cor’Dale Flott to take over their starting positions. They also signed another former Kansas City Chiefs cornerback, Joshua Williams, to complete their rotation heading into the 2026 season.
