Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs had a short run in the fourth quarter of Game 3 of the NBA Finals against the New York Knicks. Wembanyama took the lead in scoring for the Spurs. In one of the plays, the Frenchman went up for a 3-pointer and was fouled by Knicks center Mitchell Robinson.
However, New York challenged the call, and it was reviewed. The replay showed that Spurs forward Keldon Johnson pushed Robinson towards Wembanyama’s direction, which caused him to foul the star. Crew chief Marc Davis announced that the shooting foul on the Knicks center was overturned, and Johnson was called for an offensive foul.
On top of that, Wembanyama’s 3-point shot was waved off.
Victor Wembanyama’s 4-point play could’ve shifted the momentum on the Spurs’ side. However, Johnson’s costly mistake brought the energy back to New York’s favor.
After the call was overturned, fans expressed their disappointment with Johnson. Here are some of what the fans said.
“Just horrible. That’s the swing the Spurs didn’t need,” a fan said.
“Not sure how this guy won 6th man he’s almost unplayable during these playoffs,” another fan commented.
“He might legitimately be the worst player ive ever seen on a finals team who gets real minutes,” one fan said.

Most fans remember Victor Wembanyama’s Game 2 performance for his struggles in the first half. Wembanyama only had seven points in the first two quarters of the game on 2-for-4 shooting. Fortunately for the Spurs, he was more aggressive in the second half and had 22 points on 9-for-17 shooting.
However, that wasn’t enough to give the Spurs the win, and they suffered a 105-104 defeat. After the game, former NBA star Charles Barkley commented on Wembanyama’s subpar outing.
“Wemby’s in shock right now,” Barkley said. “It’s probably been a long time since he got his a** kicked like this… Wemby’s spinning – he’s throwing the ball all over the place. It’s a shock to his system.

Fortunately for Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs, they bounced back in Game 3 to give themselves a chance in the series. They secured a 115-111 win to make the series 2-1.
