The MLB All-Star break is here, marking the unofficial midway point of the summer, and midway point through the baseball season. While staples of the break include the home run derby and the all-star game itself, an underrated part of the festivities is the MLB Futures Game. The futures game pits baseball’s best minor leaguers against one another, giving a look at what the future of the MLB could look like.
Former Michigan State pitcher Joseph Dzierwa took part in this year’s game after excelling within the Baltimore Orioles organization. This is his first minor league season, between High-A Frederick Keys and Double-A Chesapeake Baysox, where he’s posted a 7-2 record with a 2.30 ERA in 15 starts.
In the game on Sunday Dzierwa got in to throw a third of an inning, getting an out on the only batter he faced.
