Former Iowa football OL set to miss entire 2026 NFL season with injury

Former Iowa offensive lineman Mason Richman got some bad injury news this week.

The Seattle Seahawks placed Richman on the season-ending injured reserve list Tuesday. He left the Seahawks‘ week two preseason game early with a knee injury that looks like it will end his season before it could even begin. The 2025 seventh-round pick will have to wait even longer to make an impact at the NFL level.

Richman was in line to be a valuable depth option in Seattle this season. After starting 43 straight games at Iowa, he appeared in two games as a rookie last season. He was set to make the move from tackle to guard to try to help the Seahawks repeat as Super Bowl champions. It now looks likely he’ll be out until the 2027 season.

The Seahawks will hope Richman can make a speedy recovery and return to the field at full strength sometime next year.
