According to BasketNews, a former Charlotte Hornets forward has agreed to sign a pro contract overseas. Jalen McDaniels, a former No. 52 overall selection, has agreed to a one-year deal with the Kobe Storks of the Japanese B League. There, McDaniels will join a roster that includes former UNC Tar Heel Luke Maye and Allen Hachimura, younger brother of Los Angeles Clippers forward Rui Hachimura.
Now 28 years old, McDaniels played six seasons in the NBA, three and a half of which he spent with the Hornets. McDaniel’s strongest campaign came in the 2022-23 season, where he averaged 10.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, two assists, 1.2 steals and 0.5 blocks in 54 games for Charlotte before being traded to the Philadelphia 76ers midseason. He would then make 54 more appearances between the Raptors and Wizards, with his final NBA appearance to date coming on a 10-day contract near the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
