Fenerbahce deny claims of €100m offer for Leao

Fenerbahce have released a statement denying claims of a €100m offer for AC Milan’s Rafael Leao.

Leao’s future with the Rossoneri is in doubt after he revealed he has held talks with the club about a potential exit this summer.

Turkish sides Fenerbahce and Galatasaray have been heavily linked with the Portugal international, while Tottenham were also said to be interested in a deal.

Reports emerged suggesting Fenerbahce made a €100m, including salary, offer for the 27-year-old, but the Super Lig outfit set the record straight on Saturday.

“Claims that we made an offer of approximately 100 million Euros for Rafael Leao, including transfer fee and salary, are untrue,” the club said in a statement.

“No such offer has been made to the player or his club.

“Our sole focus is on our return match against Gornik Zabrze in the UEFA Champions League 2nd Qualifying Round and advancing to the next round.”

Leao joined Milan from Lille in 2019 and has gone on to make 291 appearances for the Rossoneri, scoring 80 goals and providing 55 assists.

He leads Milan players in both goals and assists since his arrival, while his 107 direct goal contributions in Serie A (64 goals, 43 assists) are the sixth-most among all players in the Italian top-flight since 2019-20.

Leao featured in all five of Portugal’s World Cup games this summer, scoring one goal and recording one assist before their last 16 exit.
