Manchester United remain interested in a potential transfer move for Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall, but he’s not for sale.
After the latest round of talks between Newcastle and Hall, it seems the player has been informed that he won’t be allowed to leave St James’ Park this summer.
That’s according to Fabrizio Romano in the latest post on his YouTube channel, with the Italian journalist explaining just how complicated a deal this looks for Man Utd.

The Red Devils could do well to bring in an upgrade on the ageing and injury-prone Luke Shaw, and Hall looks like he perfectly fits the bill after some impressive performances at a young age.
Still only 21, Hall looks like he has a big future in the game, but Newcastle have already made so many sales this summer that it’s not surprising that they’re keen to avoid another.
Fabrizio Romano’s update on Man United’s pursuit of Lewis Hall
Discussing the Hall situation, Romano said: “Newcastle made clear after a new round of conversations with Lewis Hall’s agents and with the new coach Matias Jaissle that they want to keep Lewis.
“Newcastle want to continue with Lewis Hall. They want him to be part of the project. They want him to stay. They already made big money with Bruno (Guimaraes), with (Sandro) Tonali, with (Anthony) Gordon. So, Newcastle want the player to stay.
“Man United wanted Lewis Hall. He’s been in the list for some time. So, for sure, he’s a target. But the answer coming from Newcastle is ‘we want the player to stay’. So, this is the status of the story as of today.”
Overall, it doesn’t sound too optimistic for United, so it could take a big effort to get Newcastle to change their minds.
Can Newcastle keep Lewis Hall?
It will be interesting to see if Hall himself perhaps takes steps to get out of Newcastle, after seeing his former teammates do the same.
It’s clear that NUFC will let their star names go if the money is right, or if the players themselves are keen to accept big opportunities elsewhere.
Hall could perhaps get somewhere if he puts a bit of pressure on, but Newcastle will be desperate to avoid another saga like this.
With so many key players leaving, as well as former manager Eddie Howe, what the Magpies need now is stability and players committed to turning the team’s fortunes around.
