Every Star Wars Character Trained By The Skywalker Family, Ranked By Power

The various members of the Skywalker family in Star Wars trained a surprising number of people over the years, but not all of them ended their training on equal footing. Since the beginning of the Star Wars movies, the franchise has been mainly centered around the Skywalker family tree. Anakin, Luke, Leia, and Ben Solo have been the driving force of the entire galaxy far, far away, and their influence extends far beyond their bloodline.

That influence has led the Skywalker family to train over a dozen individuals throughout the Star Wars timeline. From Imperial Inquisitors to Jedi padawans and even freedom fighters, the Skywalkers are very prolific teachers. Their students have gone on to change the galaxy both literally and figuratively. To paraphrase Yoda, the Skywalker family’s students grew far beyond the Skywalkers themselves.

In Star Wars canon alone, the Skywalkers’ students made up some of the most powerful people in the franchise. Star Wars Legends took that even further through people like Galen Marek and Jacen Solo, though their non-canon status means they can’t be included on this list. Based on their individual feats, strength, and influence on the galaxy at large, these are the strongest students of the Skywalker family.

Saw Gerrera

The only Star Wars character who couldn’t use the Force and also received training directly from a Skywalker was Saw Gerrera. Long before he staged a guerrilla war against the Galactic Empire, Saw Gerrera was a freedom fighter on a much smaller scale on his home planet of Onderon. During the Clone Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Ahsoka Tano traveled to Onderon and personally trained Saw and his sister, Steela, though the latter wouldn’t survive until the end of training.

Though Anakin never trained him with a lightsaber or with the Force, he did turn Saw into a force to be reckoned with. As a result of that training, Saw became one of the most prolific independent combatants in the galaxy for nearly two decades and even managed to evade the Empire for years. However, on his own, Saw wasn’t much of a threat. His strength lied in his ability to muster up soldiers and command; in a one-on-one fight with anyone else trained by a Skywalker, he would easily lose.

Enyo & Luke’s Jedi Academy Students

    &lt;<img src="https://static0.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/star-wars-shadow-of-the-sith-cover.jpg?q=70&fit=crop&w=825&dpr=1" />

One of the most mysterious figures in the list of people trained by a Skywalker was Enyo. Appearing only in the novel Shadows of the Sith, Enyo was a Twi’lek woman who is only briefly mentioned as leading a group training exercise at Luke Skywalker’s Jedi Academy on Ossus. She was presumably a peer of Ben Solo, as he would later take over the training exercise for her in the novel. Enyo also serves as a stand-in for the numerous unnamed padawans Luke took under his tutelage at Ossus, at least in terms of power level.

It’s hard to gauge how powerful Enyo was given the supreme lack of information we have about her, but it’s safe to assume she was among the weakest of the Skywalker students. Enyo presumably died during Ben Solo’s attack on the Academy, which means she either wasn’t quick enough or strong enough with the Force to save herself. Either way, Enyo doesn’t seem to be a powerhouse among Jedi.

Jedi Academy Survivors (Tai, Hennix, & Voe)

Though Ben Solo’s destruction of the Jedi Academy on Ossus was devastating, it wasn’t entirely lethal. The comic book The Rise of Kylo Ren explained that three of Luke’s students — Tai, Hennix, and Voe — were off-planet at the time and attempted to stop Solo after the fact. Solo killed Hennix in a fit of rage, Tai was murdered by Ren, the then-leader of the Knights of Ren, and Voe was slaughtered by the newly minted Kylo Ren.

The main reason Voe, Hennix, and Tai are ranked above Enyo and the other students at the Jedi Academy is simply because they had more chances to show off their abilities. All three of the Jedi padawans fought bravely throughout their story, though they were no match for Ben Solo. Still, Voe and Tai were able to hold their own against the Knights of Ren for a time, something even Kylo Ren had trouble with in The Rise of Skywalker. Unfortunately, the trio never managed to complete their training, which naturally puts them well below other characters on this list.

The Inquisitors

Darth Vader never had a proper apprentice in Star Wars canon, but he actually managed to train more people for the Empire than he ever did as Anakin. Darth Vader trained a total of 16 Imperial Inquisitors (that we know of) during the reign of the Empire. Though that’s by far the largest group on this list, they can fairly easily be lumped together in terms of power for a number of reasons.

First and foremost, every Inquisitor started out as a Jedi or other kind of Force wielder who either failed to evade the Empire or willingly joined. Additionally, even the strongest Inquisitors are routinely bested in both combat and strategy by padawans and bokken Jedi like Ezra Bridger. On top of it all, there’s evidence that Darth Vader purposefully held back in training the Inquisitorius so that they could never pose a threat to him or Emperor Palpatine, meaning they were never fully trained in the dark side of the Force.

While the Inquisitors can’t compare to the strongest of the Skywalker students, they were still, generally, stronger than the average Jedi. Some individual Inquisitors have gone toe-to-toe with acclaimed duelists like Maul and Cal Kestis and lived to tell the tale. The Inquisitorius was also rather successful in tracking down survivors of the Jedi Purge, which implies they bested a great number of Jedi over the years.

Grogu never actually finished his training with Luke Skywalker in The Mandalorian, but his natural strength in the Force earns him a fairly high spot on this list nonetheless. Like Yoda before him, Grogu was almost preternaturally gifted in the Force. Even as an adolescent (for his species) and without proper training, Grogu accomplished impressive Force feats like lifting a Mudhorn, healing Din Djarin from fatal wounds, and more.

Grogu is also a bit unique because Luke wasn’t his only teacher. Din Djarin also trained Grogu in the ways of the Mandalorian bounty hunter, to an extent. He could pilot an IG-11 droid like a mech suit, had some understanding of stealth, and even showed cunning and the ability to use strategy on occasion. All that, coupled with his immense power in the Force, makes Grogu one of the strongest students of the Skywalkers, though he was also one of the most temporary.

3

Ben Solo

    &lt;<img src="https://static0.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/adam-driver-unmasked-as-ben-solo-in-star-wars-the-rise-of-skywalker.jpg?q=49&fit=crop&w=825&dpr=2" />

The Skywalker family trained three of the most powerful people in Star Wars in general, and of those three, Ben Solo is the weakest. That’s not to say he isn’t a powerhouse in his own right, because he is. Over the course of his movies and comics, as both Ben Solo and Kylo Ren, he achieved some impressive feats. From stopping a blaster bolt with the Force to laying siege to the entire galaxy, defeating Snoke, and transferring his life force into Rey, Solo was quite accomplished.

Ben Solo was, simply put, one of the most ferocious and talented fighters Luke Skywalker ever produced. As Kylo Ren, his fighting style was marked by massive, heavy blows with his unstable lightsaber, though he was also quick enough to fight all the Knights of Ren as Ben Solo. As one half of the Force dyad with Rey, Ben was also a natural prodigy in both the dark and light sides. He was one of the most powerful people in Star Wars, he just wasn’t one of the most powerful Skywalker trainees, despite being Leia’s son.

2

Ahsoka Tano

    &lt;<img src="https://static0.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2026/11/rosario-dawson-as-ahsoka-tano.jpg?q=49&fit=crop&w=825&dpr=2" />

Anakin Skywalker’s one and only padawan, Ahsoka Tano, is also one of the greatest Jedi who ever lived, even though she left the Order willingly. Ahsoka has an incredible number of feats that prove her strength. From the many battles she participated in and won during the Clone Wars to her work as Fulcrum during the Age of the Empire, she was quite prolific. She also proved herself in lightsaber combat on multiple occasions, besting two Inquisitors and fighting Darth Vader nearly to a standstill.

While she doesn’t have some of the galaxy-defining feats of the Skywalkers themselves, Ahsoka is far and away the greatest student Anakin ever trained. She was an excellent lightsaber duelist, decently strong with the Force, and even came back from the dead twice. Plus, the upcoming Ahsoka season 2 could see Ahsoka solve the mystery of the Mortis gods and stop Baylan Skoll’s plans. Ahsoka is an all-time great Jedi, and she was only surpassed by a single person.

1

Rey Skywalker

    &lt;<img src="https://static0.srcdn.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/daisy-ridley-s-rey-skywalker-looks-surprised-wearing-a-hood-in-star-wars.jpg?q=49&fit=crop&w=825&dpr=2" />
    </figure>

The most powerful person the Skywalkers ever had a hand in training was Rey, who was also the only Star Wars character trained by Leia and the only character trained by two different Skywalkers. Even before her training, Rey was a prodigy who defeated Kylo Ren in a lightsaber duel. After learning from Luke, she gained nearly unprecedented Force powers, and her lessons with Leia made her even stronger.

At the height of her power, Rey was able to use Force healing, summon the strength of long-dead Jedi to defeat Emperor Palpatine, and even use Force lightning. Her unorthodox lightsaber fighting style, which was influenced by her previous use of a staff, also made her a very unpredictable dueling partner. Most importantly, Rey brought balance to the Force, ended the reign of the Sith once and for all, and is on track to reestablish the Jedi Order single-handedly. Of all the Skywalker family’s students in Star Wars, Rey Skywalker is the strongest.
