Harry Kane‘s one of the most prolific goalscorers in soccer history. However, the England World Cup star wants the opportunity to become the next dominant two-sport athlete.
NFL players have come from many different backgrounds in the past.
Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders were elite baseball players in addition to their NFL stardom. Meanwhile, Antonio Gates and Jimmy Graham starred in college basketball before playing professional football.
Although, soccer is one of the most common pathways for NFL kickers, and that’s a track Kane sees himself following someday.
“That is something I will try and look at a bit more seriously,” Kane told The Athletic in a recent interview. “It all depends on what happens in my career over the next five or six years, the motivation and what I want to do. The NFL is a lot more realistic than the golf one, let’s put it that way.”

Would Kane dominate on the gridiron?
Current NFL kickers like Brandon Aubrey, Jake Bates and Matt Gay each got their start on a soccer field. In Aubrey’s case, he even starred for MLS team Toronto FC after being drafted in the first round back in 2017.
Bates and Gay played collegiate soccer at Central Arkansas University and Utah Valley University for two seasons before dedicating themselves full-time to football.
However, pro football has never had an international crossover the way that Kane presents. The 33-year-old talent even envisions himself playing football and soccer at the same time, which would be a first if he simultaneously signed with MLS and NFL teams.
“Maybe if I am in the MLS in the future or somewhere like that it might be a thing where you could connect the two, with the seasons,” Kane said.England star Harry Kane could trade
It’s a crazy thought when said out loud. Although, the Bayern Munich star is more than just proficient at his job, he’s one of the greatest goalscorers in soccer history.
Kane is England’s all-time leading scorer with 85 goals, and he clears second-place Wayne Rooney by 32 goals. Meanwhile, his 213 Premier League tallies are second-most in the league’s history, only trailing Newcastle United great Alan Shearer.

It’s clear that Kane has a lot left in the tank, especially after a successful 2026 FIFA World Cup with his nation capturing third place. However, the England standout’s been discussing his NFL dream for some time and it could finally be a reality in the next few seasons.
