The Los Angeles Dodgers may have the best catching depth in Major League Baseball.
At the trade deadline, the NL West club acquired Hunter Feduccia from the Tampa Bay Rays and Ben Rortvedt from the New York Mets.
Both Will Smith and Dalton Rushing are on the injured list, and it’s unclear when either of them will return to action.
Before yesterday, the Dodgers had Eliezer Alfonzo and Chuckie Robinson as catching depth at Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Robinson was released, and Los Angeles has signed veteran Chadwick Tromp to a minor league deal, reports Alex Freedman.
Tromp, 31, has suited up for three teams across a seven-year career but has only appeared in 88 MLB games.

Most of his career has been spent as a third-string catcher in Triple-A, and he’s a solid defender with a .208/.215/.344 slash line with six home runs and a .559 OPS.
Tromp has played 21 games this year with the Braves and Baltimore Orioles, hitting .163 with a .344 OPS and no homers in 51 plate appearances.
For now, Tromp is solid backstop depth to have at Triple-A.
