A Sharia Court in Jogana has adjourned a ₦5.25 million lawsuit filed against popular TikToker Fatima Tabatul by Muhammad Abdulkadir, who is seeking a refund of money he claims to have spent on her after she allegedly promised to marry him.
Abdulkadir is demanding ₦5,252,077, alleging that he spent the money on Tabatul based on her promise of marriage, which he claims she later failed to fulfil.
The case came up for hearing on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, before Judge Kamalu Haruna Durumin Iya.
During the hearing, the defendant’s lawyer, Usman Umar Abdullahi, challenged the court’s jurisdiction, arguing that it lacked the legal authority to hear the case. He asked the judge to strike out the suit.
However, the plaintiff’s lawyer, Yasir Garba Mukhtar, opposed the application, insisting that the defence had not presented sufficient legal reasons to show that the court lacked jurisdiction.
Mukhtar maintained that the court had the legal power to hear and determine the matter.
After listening to both lawyers, Judge Durumin Iya adjourned the case until November 3, 2026, when the court is expected to deliver its ruling on the jurisdictional challenge.
The decision will determine whether the Sharia Court can proceed to hear the main case over the money Abdulkadir claims to have spent following the alleged promise of marriage.
