The debate over who is the greatest basketball player of all time between LeBron and Jordan has raged on for almost two decades.
Since this debate began, there have been many takes about unique qualities from both players that make them better than the other. But Colin Cowherd has delivered one of the newest takes on this topic.

Speaking on The Herd, Colin Cowherd marveled at LeBron James’ longevity and mindset over the last 24 years of his career.
While James has embraced each year of a far more critical NBA environment with motivation, he lambasted Michael Jordan for walking away from the NBA in exhaustion after nine years.
“Michael Jordan played for nine years and said, ‘I need a break, it’s too much. Michael Jordan famously hides in his hotel room. Nine years. Plays baseball. This is overwhelming.’
“LeBron’s like, ‘Year 24, bring it on.’ Think about that. 24 years with all these platforms, more access, more coverage. It’s established now.
“When Michael first got into the league, it wasn’t global. Michael helped make it global. It has been global from day one with LeBron. More hate, more vitriol, more access, more coverage.
“MJ, after nine years, ‘I’m out. I’m going to hit some baseballs.’ 24 years in a row, ‘bring it on, I’m here.’ He’s going to drive reportedly $450 million of business into the Philadelphia economy. Who needs a data center? Acquire LeBron!”
LeBron James has earned GOAT consideration off longevity alone
While LeBron James has earned several accolades and delivered countless moments that have convinced people that he is the greatest of all time, it is his longevity that strengthens his resume beyond anything else.
Even though James is a four-time NBA champion, four-time Finals MVP, four-time MVP, and the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, it is his ability to play at the highest level across his 23-year career that has made him one of the absolute best of all time.
Of course, this longevity has allowed James to rack up these accolades over the years, thus strengthening his resume over the years.
No matter which player between him and Jordan you prefer, no one can deny that no player has played as well for as long as LeBron James.
